Initially designed in England by deHavilland Aircraft Corporation, the “Gipsy” was licensed to the Wright Aeronautical Corporation for manufacture in the United States. It was designed to power light flight-training aircraft and lower cost private aircraft in the time period of the 1920s and 1930s.
